A historic event of the merger of two major world Reformed bodies will be the highlight of the Uniting General Council which will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, U.S.A. The World Alliance of Reformed Churches (WARC) and the Reformed Ecumenical Council (REC) have agreed to join together in the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) in June 2010.

GAPCP was invited to attend the historic meeting. Rev Noel N. Cruz, GAPCP General Secretary, will represent our denomination.

We are raising fund for our General Secretary’s travel and expenses. The benefits of being in the Uniting General Council are tremendous. This is a great opportunity for our denomination to establish fraternal relations with Reformed and Presbyterian churches worldwide and gain recognition in the worldwide fellowship of Reformed bodies.

Included in the itinerary of the General Secretary is the meeting with fellow PCP Pastors who are based in the United States. A new outreach in the US is being organized. Tentatively, the name of our outreach is Evangelical Reformed Ministry, USA.

Let us support our General Secretary. Let us support PCP.

You will meet the General Secretary of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines there… your planting a new Presbyterian church in the US which in fact brought the Presbyterian church in Korea and even in the Philippines that is now UCCP…. your just duplicating the work…

  2. Presbyter says:

Thank you for the candid comment. I wished your group in US were more accommodating to receive our ministers there. Unfortunately it’s not the case.

In the Philippines the UCCP are very friendly with the Korean Presbyterian missionaries since the Presbyterian Church was one of the churches that promulgated the establishment of the UCCP. Our general secretary Bishop Eliezer Pascua has just reported that the UCCP has been waiting for the turn over of the churches founded by the Korean Presbyterians since there is a declaration of relations between the Presbyterian Church of Korea and the PROK.

I JUST ARRIVED FROM THE JOINT ASSEMBLIES OF THE THREE CONFERENCES IN NEGROS THAT WERE FORMERLY CALLED THE PRESBYTERY OF DUMAGUETE FOUNDED IN 1918. REV. PARK HAD JUST TURN OVER ITS FACILITIES TO THE UCCP AS PART OF THE DECLARATION OF RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PCK, PROK AND UCCP. I WOULD LIKE TO ASSERR IN YOUR CHURCH THE UCCP CHURCHES IN THE VISAYAS AND NORTHERN LUZON WERE PRESBYTERIANS WHO WERE PART IN THE UCCP. THE UCCP WAS FOUNDED IN ELLINWOOD MALATE CHURCH (PRESBYTRERIAN).

I WILL SUGGEST THAT YOUR CHURCH BECOME A MEMBER OF THE National Council of Churches in the Philippines not with PCEC since NCCP is a product of Mainline Protestant Churches, the CCA or the Christian Conference of Asia and World Council of Churches.

I appreciate your concern, I believe its not a problem building relationship. But we would appreciate if you will not insist on us your ideas. I believe we can share some thoughts and activities. We had one time visited the office of the UCCP and had a wholesome talk about working together even without mentioning about merging. We consider each other as fellow workers of Christ. For your information we treat the officers of UCCP with respect, especially Bishop Eliezer Pascua. We also had some of the UCCP Ministers and a bishop during our trip to Korea, we all enjoyed our fellowship without mentioning anything about who is in the mainline or not. Brother, I suggest that it is more appreciative just recognize that there are other PRESBYTERIANS who are willing love to serve in God’s Kingdom. Thank you very much for your concern. I love you in Jesus’ name.

UCCP and GAPCP can work together. I suggest that a dialogue for the purpose of creating an agreement of mutual acceptance be held. We have a common root and common mission. Let there be a fraternal relationship between UCCP and PCP.

  8. tonton says:

Can two walk together except they agreed? As I understand GAPCP is an independent body of Christ’s workers and bearer of the Gospel. Let our God convict them and decide who and where they will be in partnership with. The concern now is not who started and originates and who is not. The issue is how the Gospel of Christ will be spread all over the country and all over the world.

I not against working together with the UCCP ’cause I entrusted that matter to the officers of PCP. I trust the Lord and His great plan for all of us either PCP or UCCP. Let the Holy Spirit lead them.

Likewise, I will respect PCP’s decision provided that doctrine of Christ is preserved.

May the Lord bless UCCP and PCP.

I hope that will happen soon….
